Victorian Inspiration

We offer a comprehensive service covering consultancy on traditional and contemporary geometric patterns, floor layout design, sourcing tiles and additional period decorative features such as path edging, railings, steps and York stone paving. We also can give you advice on the practical issues and the visual elements of the Victorian tiling project. We have worked with architects, garden designers, interior designers and antique reclamation companies. We know how various elements of a restoration project fit together and can provide advise on what parts of the project to work on first.

We can offer help with:

  • Tile designs to suit a period home
  • Original Style Victorian tile ranges and colours
  • Sourcing original Victorian tiles
  • Additional period architectural features

Inspiration for a Victorian gate

The base underneath the path or the surface beneath the tiled hall needs to be solid and robust to withstand day-to-day traffic in the home. We can advise on the existing flooring and identify what may need to be done before tiling can begin. A common problem can be cracking or dislodging in the existing cement base. This may be due to tree roots that have grown underneath the path over many years, or the original base was not sufficiently compacted. It’s important that the tiles are fixed to a solid surface and if there are existing issues with a surface, we advise that the base is removed and reinstated with a strengthening steel fabric by either your building contractor or ourselves.
